Started here (12 entries read). You have a very unique style of writing in your entries, but I'm not too sure that I like it. It is definately a unique combination of some third-person writing, observations, thoughts and other such emotions, which is what I like, but the way it is presented is in a style I think it takes a little while to get used to (as I read on in the review, I got more used to it). I do like that whole third-person thing that you do sometimes ("Good plan, Holly.") because it sounds like something that your actual voice is saying, and that is an important characteristic of your writing. The content of your entries was a little hard for me to follow along with. One day you mentioned going to the hospital, but not really why you went to the hospital (I mean there were details, but it was still pretty vague). And then it seems like each entry stands on it's own. Each entry is it's own story, and a lot of times as a reviewer, that can be hard to follow along with. I prefer cohesiveness from entry to entry, such that when you mention someone or something, I can remember a little bit about the situation from a previous entry. I found that hard to do with your writing. As this is part of a competition (woo!), I'm writing a lot more than usual. Yes, I would say the best thing about your writing is your personal voice in it, and the worst is how a lot of times I get confused about what you're talking about (you got stood up for a labcoat? what?).

Design: (27/30)
I am so glad that you had a write up on the design, because if I hadn't read that, I would have been DREADFULLY lost. Pink is the new pink eh? Do you like pink? You said it doesn't remind you of vomit like other colors do (does green remind you of vomit too?), so I sort of assume that you like pink. I am glad that the title and username are explained here (they're both other ways to say your name), and the design looks good. The colors all look well together, the design is clean and easy to navigate through, but I must admit that I'm not a fan of the "back" and "Up" links. I am so used to prev/next links being at the end of an entry that I got confused a lot. That's just what I'm used to though. Yeah. All looks good. Why are the links other colors of pink? That seems odd to me...

Update: (9/10)
Righto, in the span I read, you missed three days, but had more than three days that had >1 entries, so I would say they pretty well even out. I will point out again though, that if you write several entries during a day, I shouldn't get too lost from entry to entry, yet I did.

Started here and ended here (12 entries read). Righto. Just so you know, I am doing your review second of the two. Just thought you might like to know. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out if it's Canadians in general, or just you and Holly, and I might guess Valerie, who have really really interesting ways of writing. It's so odd! I've never had two people write so very similarly and still be friends. Haha, no I can see that might be part of why you are friends. Anyway again, You have a very interesting voice quality to your writing. There are distinct points in your writing that I can sit as a reviewer and say "YES! that is what I like to read," but nobody can have an entire diary like that (I think they would die from it). So I can say with definition that there are parts of your entries that I really enjoyed. Several entries I had read on my own before as you review at this site now, and so I was already vaguely interested/involved in your life. I have to say though, that I also really enjoyed your re-cap of 2004. That was a unique way to do it, with the lists and whatnot. Your entries are pretty level 5 emotional (on a scale of 10). They're not drama queen fake emotions, nor are they super super intense emotional entries. They just seem to be your thoughts and other collected ramblings of the day, and that is fine with me. It's what Ido at my own site. So, best thing about your writing was that you have some very distinctive parts of entries that I loved. Thing I liked least would probably be that sometimes the entries seemed just like collective ramblings. Maybe more emotion?

Woo...the colors change on the top. That is neato, but I think that it would drive me crazy. I want it to be the navigation or something! The design seems to be missing one of the dotted borders on the right of the entry. It all looks really good though. It is blue, to match your username, and I much enjoy how your username description is the title. Good good way to do it. The colors all look nice together, the center-alignment keeps it all clean and nicey-nice looking, and I can fairly vaguely guess that I might be tempted to use this design myself. It does seem to get a bit long when you write long entries though...are you anti-scrollbars?

Update: (8/10)
You missed three days in the span I read, yet January the fifth had...four entries on it! Oh, those are "extras" things. I forgot. Hm...It seems like you are a fairly daily updater, if not every other day. So I judge... <-see score.

Navigation: (4/5)
Oh yes, I like, very easy to use. But is there any way they could all be together instead of some on top and some on bottom?
